Rajasthan fulfills one’s fantasies about India. No other state in India is as rich in magnificent palaces and forts, colorful bazaars and festivals. The desert fort of Jodhpur, the palaces and lakes of Udaipur, the spectacular Jain temples at Ranakpur, and the Ranthambhore National Park – an ideal place to spot and photograph tigers – evoke all the romance and splendor of the state’s princely past. A special feature of this trip is that we stay in palaces once home to India’s pre-Independence royalty, and also in comfortably appointed tented camps, where we experience night in the desert and dine al fresco under a canopy of stars.
