Travel to northern Scotland's Highlands and islands to explore the country's rich cultural and natural history. Visit old growth forests, rich bird sanctuaries, peat bogs, and experience Scotland's alluring history and culture visiting Norse archaeological sites, and castles, while staying at the Aigas Field Centre. On the Black Isle, take a boat ride to look for bottlenose dolphins, sea birds, and other wildlife. At the famed Isle of Skye see the mountainous landscape, a result of intense volcanic activity 65 million years ago. Travel to the Shetlands, known for their beautiful coastline and exciting variety of wildlife and culture. Spot whales, otters, seals and puffins, before visiting museums and galleries that proudly showcase a vibrant arts scene. See evidence of human habitation from over 6,000 years ago on the Orkney Islands, and enjoy a traditional Gaelic celebration to commemorate the Simmer Dim, or summer solstice.
