Arabia – just the mellifluous word conjures images of desert kingdoms, tented Bedouin camps under starry skies, and markets full of fragrant spices, gold and camels. But Arabia of the 21st century is a fascinating and complex intermingling of ancient history and modern culture. From ruins of old civilizations to cities of glass and steel, from the beauty of its barren desert to the wealth of its seas; from goat markets that have existed in that spot for centuries to creating empires on land reclaimed from the sea, this is a fascinating region. Experiencing the Arabian peninsula is as much seeing these as experiencing simple pleasures, witnessing the desert glowing at sunset, the haunting calls to prayer, or sitting on a floor mat drinking coffee with our host. Throughout, the hospitality of the people will be unforgettable. Join us as we travel through Oman and the United Arab Emirates (with an optional extension to Qatar). Visit mosques and markets, cities of the future and ruins of the past. Wander through camel markets, see falconry demonstrations, even sleep in a lovely tented camp under the desert stars. Learn about Arabia’s history, culture, natural treasures, and cuisine.
