Special Summer Event

Kick off summer at the Harvard Museums of Science &amp; Culture's annual Summer Solstice celebration. Enjoy a fun evening with circus performers, music, dance, food trucks, street chalking, and hands-on activities for all ages, with free evening admission to the [Harvard Semitic Museum](http://semiticmuseum.fas.harvard.edu/home), [Collection of Historical Scientific Instruments](https://chsi.harvard.edu/), [Peabody Museum of Archaeology &amp; Ethnology](https://www.peabody.harvard.edu/), and [Harvard Museum of Natural History](http://hmnh.harvard.edu/home). You won't want to miss this special summer night!  
  
The Summer Solstice Celebration is free and open to the public. In case of rain, the event will move inside the museums. Free event parking available at the [52 Oxford Street Garage](http://map.harvard.edu/?ctrx=760081.5&ctry=2963729.5&level=9&layers=Campus%20Base%20and%20Buildings,Map%20Text).

**5:00 pm until sunset   
Off the Ground Circus Arts** Keep your eyes open for stilt walkers, jugglers, and acrobats!  
  
**5:00 pm**  
**The Zahili Gonzalez Zamora Project**  
*Berklee College of Music*  
Join us for a lively performance of Latin Jazz tunes.  
  
**6:00 pm**  
**The JoNi DeTa 4tet Band**  
*Berklee College of Music*  
Groove to the sounds of pop and soul.  
  
**7:00 pm**  
**Off the Ground Circus Arts Feature Show**  
Watch mesmerizing hula-hoop dancing and eye-popping juggling.

****7:45 pm–8:15 pm** Japanese Taiko Drumming with Odaiko New England**  
Enjoy a lively performance of taiko drumming that will summon luck and good fortune as we begin the new summer season.

####  **Hands-on Activities Schedule**

**Location:** Divinity Avenue, Cambridge, MA 02138  
**Time:** 5:00 pm–7:30 pm  
  
**Sun-Inspired Street Chalking!** **This activity has been cancelled**  
Participate in a sun-themed street chalking adventure led by ArtStreet, Inc., that will include a tribute to beloved community icon, Sidewalk Sam.

**Flower Crowns**  
Design your very own summer crown with seasonal flowers and garden greens.

**Viking Sunstones**  
Learn how Vikings used the mineral calcite, also known as Iceland spar, to follow the sun and find their way as they travelled across the ocean.

**Sun Drums**  
Create your own festive rattle-drum to celebrate the beginning of summer.

**Egyptian Collars**  
Turn yourself into royalty by making and wearing an Egyptian-inspired ornament.  
  
**People's Sculpture Racing Project** **- This activity has been cancelled**   
Enjoy a selection of nature-inspired sculptures from the 2015 *People's Sculpture Racing Project*.

**Beloved Bees**  
Learn about the fascinating, sweet world of bees with Harvard Undergraduate Beekeepers and honey experts from local shop, Follow the Honey. And then head over to the Harvard Museum of Natural History to visit the newly installed observational beehive.

#### **Food Trucks**

**Location:** Divinity Avenue, Cambridge, MA 02138  
**Time:** 5:00 pm until sunset

Enjoy **Ben &amp; Jerry’s** ice cream, **Bon Me’s** pan Asian delights, and **Jose’s** best Mexican small dishes.

The Harvard Museums of Science &amp; Culture are only a 6-minute walk through Harvard Yard from the Harvard Square Red Line T stop.
