SUMMARY:Herps! The Amazing World of Reptiles and Amphibians (2015)
DESCRIPTION:
Foot-long frogs, legless lizards, flying geckos, and dwarf chameleons—the array of reptiles and amphibians is both surprising and diverse. Explore the world of herps with Joe Martinez, curatorial assistant in Harvard’s Herpetology Department. Observe specimens that illustrate the defining characteristics scientists use to classify reptiles and amphibians and learn about some of the species that live in New England. Examine a Galápagos tortoise collected the same year that Darwin visited those islands, see a Blanding’s turtle collected by Thoreau, and inspect the fearsome skull of a Komodo dragon during a behind-the scenes tour of Harvard’s herpetology collections.

Instructor: Joe Martinez

Fee: $35 members/$40 nonmembers. Advance registration required. Register online.
